Charity Cold Case! Storm in a B Cup!

So was gunna write about Mr. Spilly drinker from Saturday night but he’ll have to take a backseat for a moment!

Just got word from the latest charity that had “signed” on with us that they can no longer be involved with our Naked Charity Calendar! We’ve literally contacted multiple Charities to donate monies made from our sales to a good cause! We wanted to give back to our community in the Gold Coast, since everyone has been so fabulous to us.

We danced around the idea of having an appreciation party, then one of our managers suggested we do something to help out a charity. Ideas flowed and then someone had mentioned the movie “Calendar Girls” released in 2003 (based on a true story) about a group of women who set out to raise money by posing in a tasteful Naked Calendar in cheeky poses.

Our management team agreed that it would be a blast for the staff and Broadbeach has definitely never seen anything like it before! What a great way to connect with our community, our staff, and our guests. So we set out to plan our naked calendar, for the past 3 weeks many people donated their time, their talent, and worked hard to make our Naked Charity Calendar a success! Again, a BIG thank-you goes to our staff for being brave to bare it all, FotoForce for understanding our concept and making it materialize and Allure for dolling us all up! Everything seemed to be going according to plan… except for the “Charity” part.

The minute we said we were doing a “Naked Calendar” people have been dropping like flies. Out of 14 shots only 2 are minutely provocative in nature, but given the props they shot with, its just what worked. Most of our shots are fun- in- the- action- cheeky poses! They look fantastic! We provided our host charity with proofs of the shots and they politely declined the use of their name due to the nakedness.

While we understand the fear of political backlash, we are saddened that we may not be able to give our goal money of $50,000 to a charity that is desperate need of what we can provide.

We completely understand that the nature of the calendar isn’t “Ideal” it’s not puppies and kittens playing with strings. But ask yourself this… for $10 do you think a “Fakey Nakey” Calendar will sell heaps over landscapes or puppies? We’d like to think so! That means more money for the “cause” my friends!

We decided we weren’t going to let our efforts go to waste, so we contacted the local media to see if they could help us find a charity that wouldn’t mind being associated with our Calendar cash.

Over the past 2 days the response from the Gold Coast Community has been overwhelming and most of all EXCITING! Thank-you so much to all the organizations who have come forth and expressed your interest! Now we wish we could help EVERYONE!

We’d like to give everyone equal consideration so please for the next week, if you are an organization interested in receiving a donation, please -please email us at: justine@sagerestaurant.com.au with a small description of your charity, where the money will go to and to whom it will benefit!

Also feel free to follow us on Twitter @1two3dining @yellowfindining and @SageRestaurant for updates on who will take our money!!!

Scootering the nation for the next generation is my fundraising journey on a push scooter across Australia. The expedition begins in the town of Laura in northern Queensland and finishes 4316 kilometers later in the city of Melbourne.
The aim of this trip is to show you that we can all make difference to the lives of those living in ‘third world’ conditions overseas and for the many Australians living under extreme hardship.
