“Hey, did you check out that cute bartender?” – A phrase muttered by many a guest over the years I’m sure! Cos no matter how you try to hide it, the person behind the bar always serves up a good time!
Our 3 lovelies behind the bar: Fallon, Jamie, and Jonno probably can all confirm that at one time or another a customer or two have slipped them more then just money over the counter! i.e – a number rolled up in a fiver, a Phoenician key card, a request for a date … etc.
After chatting with the girlies about this I discovered that each and every one of us has fancied a bartender or two in our day. Most of us have worked in bars and know that the bartender is the “go-to” for most co-workers and patrons alike.
So I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss since “the bartender” sort of falls somewhere between lusting for the “man-in-uniform” and the “bad boy/musician” types.
Two great movies (that are oldies) that prove my point would be: Cocktail, and Coyote Ugly. Both loaded with bar wisdom and bar truths.
Now in most clubs or establishments you’ll notice that bartenders are usually not too hard on the eyes, have an outgoing personality, and are ready to have fun. Some bartenders even tend to be a bit sour or jaded but entertaining nonetheless – like they say “misery loves company”. The two common denominators are usually big personality, and character. It’s what attracts us, and makes a regular keep coming back. You need your shot of fun, with your shot of Bundy Rum. You’ll never see a timid mouse behind the bar, it just doesn’t work in this industry.
So I figured the best way to figure out why the bartender is usually the main catch, I decided to make up a Top 10 List of reasons why I think people are attracted to bartenders!
10. They take the stress of your day away with their cocktails, beers, n’ shots.
9. They’ll always flirt back, especially if you buy them a shot.
8. They are the perfect alibi, and don’t dish your secrets.
7. They won’t judge you when you’re not sober.
6. They encourage silly behavior, and help to instigate it.
5. Even if they don’t know your name, a good bartender will know your drink.
4. They normally can have great conversations about music, sports or travel.
3. They make you feel great about yourself, and always listen to you.
2. Normally they’re better looking then anyone you’d pick up at the bar.
1. You don’t need a clever excuse to go visit them, just cash!
